Chandigarh: The Haryana Police on Tuesday announced the launch of Operation Aakraman-21 – a large-scale special drive – against criminals and anti-social elements across the state.The special operation was conducted on Tuesday under the leadership of director general of police Ajay Singhal, sending a clear message that law and order was paramount in the state and no unlawful activity would be tolerated.During simultaneous raids carried out by 1,460 teams comprising 7,471 police personnel across Haryana, 461 cases were registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, NDPS Act, Excise Act and the Arms Act, and 1,048 accused were arrested. The action reflects Haryana Police’s firm commitment to making the state crime-free, said the DGP.Singhal said the Haryana Police are fully committed to maintaining robust law and order in the state. Special drives like ‘Operation Aakraman-21′ are a clear demonstration of the zero-tolerance policy against criminals and anti-social elements. Keeping in view the festival of Holi, elaborate security arrangements were put in place to ensure that citizens celebrate the festival in a safe and fear-free environment, he added.The campaign symbolises the victory of good over evil and further strengthens the spirit of peace, security and good govt in the state, said the DGP, adding that action against illicit liquor trade, drug trafficking, organised crime and illegal arms would continue unabated, and no offender would be spared at any cost.Strike on drug, liquor tradeUnder the Excise Act, 299 FIRs were registered and 293 accused were arrested. The police recovered 1,539 bottles of English liquor, 1,970 bottles of country liquor, 1,051 bottles of BLL, 6,048 bottles of BIL, 292 bottles of beer and 8,276 litres of lahan.Under the NDPS Act, 46 FIRs were registered and 41 accused were apprehended. The police seized 25.189 kg of ganja, 500 grams of opium, 191 grams of heroin, 5.050 kg of poppy husk, 34.64 grams of smack, 306 grams of charas, 332.18 grams of sulfa, 390 intoxicant tablets and 135 capsules.Crackdown on criminalsUnder the Arms Act, 19 FIRs were registered and 16 accused persons were arrested. The police also recovered 20 country-made pistols and 11 cartridges from their possession. The police also arrested 67 criminals, including 61 proclaimed offenders (POs); 101 bail jumpers; 5 most wanted criminals; one reward-carrying criminal; one cybercriminal and one heinous offender.
